Trinidad Corcel: A Limited-Edition Cuban Cigar Honoring the Year of the Horse

Habanos S.A. has unveiled a striking new addition to its Año Chino (Chinese New Year) Series with the release of the Trinidad Corcel, a commemorative cigar celebrating the 2026 Lunar Year of the Horse. This limited-edition Habano made its world debut at an exclusive launch event in Hong Kong, marking another milestone for the storied Trinidad brand in the global cigar calendar.
A Vitola Rooted in Tradition and Symbolism
The Trinidad Corcel is crafted in a generous 55 ring gauge by 135 mm length—a size known in the Cuban factory system as Patricios. The parejo format with a distinctive pigtail finish not only adds visual flair but also nods to classic Cuban cigar artistry. The cigar showcases tobacco from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region in Pinar del Río, celebrated worldwide for producing some of the island’s most prized leaf.
This release is designed to reflect both quality and cultural significance. In Chinese tradition, the Year of the Horsesymbolizes strength, freedom, endurance, and spirited energy—attributes that cigar makers say the Trinidad Corcel embodies in its construction and flavor profile.
Presentation & Production
Each Trinidad Corcel comes in an elegant wooden case containing 18 cigars, and the total production run is limited, making it a collectible release for enthusiasts. The packaging incorporates NFC (near-field communication) technology—a modern anti-counterfeiting feature that allows collectors to verify authenticity and access detailed product information directly from the box.
Suggested retail pricing has been set around $84.25 USD or €78 per cigar, though final prices will vary depending on regional market conditions. Boxes are expected to command a premium, reflecting both the limited production and the seasonal nature of the release.
Launch & Distribution
The launch event was staged in collaboration with key regional partners in Asia, providing a first look for aficionados in the local market. Historically, distributors that host a cigar’s premiere often receive the earliest shipments, with subsequent distribution rolling out to other global regions in the weeks and months that follow.
Why It Matters to Collectors
The Trinidad Corcel is the latest in a series of culturally themed Cuban releases that celebrate annual Lunar New Year cycles. These offerings are typically produced in limited quantities and generate significant interest among collectors and seasoned smokers alike, both for their unique branding and for the opportunity to own something truly special from one of Cuba’s most revered manufacturers.
